CONSOLE 3 OPERATOR SETUP CHECKLIST

  1. Turn on the two Main Power switcher (upper left & upper right of the console)
  2. Turn on B&W camera preview monitors and color preview & program monitors
  3. Set up set & microphones, turn on and position lights, and position cameras as needed
  4. Turn on SVHS Record Deck and insert and rewind backup tape(s)

a. Record Deck

·        Set input to AV1 (using channel up/down buttons)

·        Set Line/S-Video switch to Line

·        Set speed to SP for short programs and SLP for long programs such as meetings

b. Play Deck (if used for 2nd backup – if using as play deck only, skip this step)

·        Set input to AV2 (using channel up/down buttons)

·        Set Line/S-Video switch to S-Video

·        Set speed to SLP

  1. Adjust audio levels on mixer

·        Set MAIN MIX levels to unity (“U”)

·         Adjust individual channel levels as needed
Audio meters should average around “0” and be no higher than “7”

·         Make sure L-R select button for channels you are using is in the down position

·        Adjust room volume using the CTRL RM/SUBMIX control

  1. Turn on PC and Log into the WinTCD Software

·        Double click on Leightronix WINTCD icon

·        Highlight LGX TCDIP and click Connect

   

·        Click on the Control

·        Highlight TCD-RP_02

  • In the Recorder Section, enter the following values:

            Vid Mbps: 6.0

                Resolution: Full D1

                Audio: 384kb
            and click “Set”

·        Enter the File Name for the Program
Names are limited to 8 characters.
For meetings please use a 4 letter abbreviation followed by a 4-digit month/day (i.e. January 1 would be 0101)

·        Preset the record destination by selecting the Switcher tab and setting the RP-2 input to VHS6-CS3

·        When meeting begins, press the Record button.  Also press record on one or both SVHS decks

  • If going live,set the ON-AIR input to VHS6-CS3

 

SETTING UP CAMERAS

  1. Connect all camera cables if not already done
  2. Remove lens caps
  3. Turn on Camera Control Units (CCU) and place cameras into bars mode
  4. On the switcher, bring up the desired camera on the program bus
  5. Using the wavform/vectorscope display as a guide, adjust the SC fine control on the CCU until the color dots fall into the boxes.  If the dots are too far out or in to fall into the boxes, use the adjust>chroma control (under cable comp section).  Repeat this process for each camera.
  6. With studio lights on, switch each camera from bars to camera mode and point toward a white card (put camera slightly out of focus to even out the image).  Adjust the iris control (make sure auto/manual switch is in manual) until the white level on the waveform monitor approaches 95% on the IRE scale. Press the auto black switch to black balance and the auto white switch to white balance the camera.  Repeat this process for each camera.

 

USING THE COMPIX CHARACTER GENERATOR

  1. Turn on the Character Generator PC (the blue power button on the dark grey box on the lower left side of the console)
  2. Double click on the GenCG program icon
  3. Use FILE>OPEN command to load a previous file or create a new page by selecting the typing tool “A” and begin typing on the screen
  4. To ready a page for display, hit the ENTER key on the number pad twice
  5. Fade the graphic in or out using the level control on the switcher DSK (downstream key) section
    (Make sure the fill is set to ext, the edge switch is off, and the DSK switch is on)
  6. If needed adjust the key level using the slice control
  7. If desired, the fade in/out can be achieved using the auto trans control by turning that control ON and setting the selector switch to DSK – the graphic fade in/out can now be done by pressing the green auto button

 

SHUTDOWN CHECKLIST

  1. Go off air and stop recording

·        Switch the ON-AIR input to BULBRD

·        In the Recorder section, click Stop

   

·        Close the Control Panel and exit the WINTCD Software

  1. Turn off studio lights
  2. Cap camera lenses
  3. Place CCUs into bars mode and turn off
  4. Shut down Compix PC from the Start Menu
  5. Stop, rewind, and eject backup tape(s) and label with program title and date
  6. Bring all audio faders down on the audio mixer
  7. Shut off Main Power
  8. Put away microphones
